Collecting Wishes Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

Collecting Wishes

Empty words fill mine so plenty
Pennies collecting in a jar
For now both belonging to each other
Not so near, yet not so far

Nearest star there in my heaven
How many have fallen from the sky
In the dark is light that always twinkled
Once there was one in my eyes

Upon each day where ever are
'Where' is still unanswered
Each passing day will add a penny
One more wish before the darkest hour

To ever know would end our wonder
Once a wish can reach a star
Forever mine would become forever
If only one could leave this jar
