Cold Calm Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

Cold Calm

Narrowly the sun shall rise
Winter, a layer, a cover
Little mouse tunnels beneath the snow
Dim, the light above her

As run the deer from loud, a thunder
One shall always be reclaimed
For food or just for boasting brothers
Silent tears from far away

A forest chill; Hopes for the summer
Waylaid thereafter daily rain
Playful spirits, carefree and happy
With fur snow white, some say

Sleepy dreams upon such woodland wonder
Deeper snow shall keep them safe
The forest 'Green; ' Both fur and feather
Await a Springlike day
