College Blues Poem by Irma Goo

College Blues

Rating: 4.5

Watch his hand as he rambles
Avoid the hand on the clock
Lest you get caught, rot
And your head will
Rest forever in shambles

What is time in this place
But a figment
An ancient remnant of space
What is time in this place
But a never ending
Race, a perpetual chase
Still, still, such a slow pace

An hour and a half
Really is not that much
So why does it seem like such
An arduous task
Just to appear here
And trust
And sit, pretending
That my head is clear
And that my desire
To learn about law
Has expanded ever higher

And that my quest
For knowledge
This infinite fire
Has been expunged
By these classes
And the general premise
Of college

And that is the truth of the matter
I sit immune to this pitter, this chatter
I sit immune to the patter, this laughter
I sit, and time goes slower and then faster
Time goes slow in this room
The clock that is white like the moon
With the face and the cheese
Time goes slow in this ruin
I sit still yet as soon as i leave
It seems that the restraints
Have now been freed
And time rushes
And suddenly i
Long, i need
A space, a place
To just breathe
Without the pounding of time
This force that is grounding
And hounding as it sits
Expounding and expanding
Wide in my mind
I sit and
And i sit
As the hand
Continues to shake
As the hand continues to make
Me suddenly so aware
Of my fears, and my cares
So dont stare at the face
Don't gaze at the moon

And the cow, and the fiddle, the spoon
One day
Long or soon
I hope beyond hope
That i shall exit
This room
This cave of ruin
That has its hold over me
And i will no longer need
The cage of time
To remind me
That i truly
am
free
