Coming Departure

As Oz wouldn't be as friendly
without Is
if I'm still here when he goes
I suppose my jokes won't be either.

They might be more directed,
sympathetic,
than they've already become
from other departures.

They might forget about a closing rhyme;
or slip one in:
from the Greek to burn a sacrifice
comes our word 'thyme'.
