Coming To Their Defense Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Coming To Their Defense

More publicly are proving themselves fools.
And doing this in positions to represent,
Constituents of all demographics.
Coming to their defense.

This to anyone,
Should be an embarrassment that offends.
Well...
To anyone who still takes pride,
In maintaining obtained common sense.

However...
There also seems in these days we live,
Few are displaying their outrage.
Or expressing to vocalize,
The wondering who are the fools.
And why so many of them,
Are in positions to make decisions.
When there was a time,
Some remember...
When people did the best they could,
To at least pretend...
They were not out of their minds.

But today?
Being out of one's mind,
Qualifies them to represent...
Those no longer pretending,
To be mentally dysfunctioned.
And this,
For many is considered progress!
And these are the days of our lives!

"So...
You're coming to their defense? "

-I'm just here left to wonder,
What is it I am defending.
And what difference does it make to who,
If I am offended.-
