Common Are Taught Thoughts Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Common Are Taught Thoughts

To think one who displays,
Behavior outrageous.
Seeks attention sought.
Is a common taught thought.
Or someone who seems,
Unmotivated and not inspired.
And has no incentive for anything desired.
Is a common taught thought.
Brought about by those,
Who compare and watch.
From teachings limited.
And minds restricted,
To labels applied.

There are some who use,
Strategic devices to distract.
To know exactly what they do,
Like magicians who practice an act.

A few live not to want,
Whatever they do to reveal it known.
Until they are prepared and satisfied,
To expose what it is...
Unknown to be shown.
Without prior announcements made.
That often attracts,
Criticisms to hear them.
From those anticipating to give.
Associated with behavior.
And how one looks, dresses to impress.
Skin color and where they live.

Common are taught thoughts.
Yet...
Uncommon is the one,
Who achieves and gets unexpected success.
In places where minds,
Are confined to self imposed limits.
Others anticipate and expect,
No more but even less to address.

Until...
Someone comes along,
With a serious point of view.
To have done something uncommon.
Choosing time not to waste.
Regardless of who rumored that to be true.
Ignored.
Although their success to have achieved.
Can not be disputed.
By those with common taught thoughts.
Left with no excuses to further make.
To continue allowing themselves...
Accepting limitations.
And minds to remain maintained,
Within boundaries.
