Completely Squeezed Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Completely Squeezed

Thoughts to never have before,
To think.
Would one day become prioritized,
On one's mind kept occupied.
As if forced to live,
A life disenfranchised.
Disregarded.
And made to feel,
Disrespected and unworthy.
Oh.
The woe and pinch of truth.

Well...
These days,
Many are getting an overdose...
Of what it is like,
Having the comforts of life...
Overnight snatched away.
Regardless of benefits.
Entitlements and amendment rights.
Once to enjoy.
Ignoring the needs of others.

It seems,
Almost criminal...
That those born and taught to believe,
The World is theirs.
And that bowl of cherries.
Once had their pits.
And...
One can do what they please.
Until that doing what they please,
Leaves a bitter taste of reality.

"Whoa whoa...
Hold up.
What is this! ? "

-Reality.
Whipped up and baked.
Without frosting.
To enhance the taste of it.-

Uh... where was I?
Oh yeah.
Promising,
To stick around for awhile too!

And for many...
May become the taste to crave.
When all the juice has been squeezed,
Completely out of their delusions.
