Conversations With Cardboard Poem by Alyssa Lynn

Conversations With Cardboard

You’re like a broken record of my favorite song, you’re the “you wait it shouldn’t be long”. You’re the story that I never read to the end, you’re the “it might be too late now, but it could’ve been back then.” You were my pick me up, and my hello before goodbye. Now we’re just “whatever don’t care goodbye? ” You’re the one who causes this poison to run through my veins. You’re the old news to my old school blues, . You’re the boy who’s pushing me away, when all I wanted was for you to say: “You’re my oxygen when I can’t breathe, the eyes when I’m too blind and I can’t see. Your vital to my life can’t you see, you’re my friend, my girl, my defiantly maybe.”….. But in reality you’re the boy who couldn’t say “everything’s going to be okay”, you’re the boy who was too blind to see that I tried, to be everything you need. You’re the boy who wanted silence when I wanted to speak out, the one I had to say “oh never mind my thoughts, my opinions, I can’t let those sneak out.” You’re the boy who is now like talking to a giant cardboard wall which makes me wonder why I even try….at all.
