Cosmic Girl Poem by Paula Glynn

Cosmic Girl

It was the year 5000 on the forever spinning earth
Three long thousand years of human evolution
After Jennifer Lopez's Waiting For Tonight in 2000
The record breaking jungle hit dance track
A 18 year old talented schoolgirl graduating
With amazing ambitions and exciting dreams
Of space travel throughout the unknown cosmos.

Excelling in mathematics and science
Being a fish when in the water
Loving flying in airplanes and helicopters
Loving pulse racing rollercoaster rides
Able to bungee jump and enjoying it every time
Good at rock climbing and good at hiking
And being able to handle talking to large crowds of people.

Being fluent in English and another language
She is a young woman with no fear
She is going to apply to be astronaut of the year
With the skills and strength of super woman
She is never weak or baby of the class
She has guts, muscle strength and emotional resilience
She sees science and technology with diligence.

Starting out flying airplanes for the American navy
She is able to follow instructions and obey orders
She is able to react quickly and with stealth
She is in excellent physical and emotional health
She has traveled the world through her work
She has taught army workers skills and techniques
She has taught people to admire and respect her.

Now she has entered the Space Station
She is accustomed to zero gravity
She is able to leave the Space Station in a spacesuit
To fix problems outside the Space Station
And also uses knowledge to protect
Her and her co-workers in the Space Station
Their lives safe because of the educational tests they all passed.

Now the human race travels through many galaxies
Through the solar system an adventure in itself
Plus seeing blue and green earth from orbit in space is awesome
And technology has by now vastly increased
Distances traveled throughout the universe with mysterious engines
Spaceman X being a woman of superior intelligence
A woman that faces an entire universe without fear.

And seeing the stars, the planets, many nebulae
Knowing the human race has conquered space
Unable to land on hostile moons and planets
But a glorious spectacular victory of colours
That paint the universe with radiant rainbow colours
An incredible woman called Judy belonging to space
The gorgeous woman an astronaut no one can replace.
