Couch Potato Poem by Joshua Mapp

Couch Potato

Rating: 4.5

Trance conflicted mind trace the tick tock of a master on the wall,

Controlled motion of dwarf-syndrome deformed arms and pointing hands

Navigate the stubble that reaches from the skin stretching into a world of unknown

Continuance.

The middle of incomplete in a horizon of malcontent wasteland

Of lack luster and inconceivable meandering.

Wasteful interval of uncertainty and beef jerky boredom

Movie watching marathons leaping into an hour beyond skull numb meltdown.

T.V. screen watered eyes itching with throbbing thumbs,

Can't pass this level, seizing unconsciousness.

Dogs screaming annoyed hunger for affection,

Pizza aroma intoxicated tattoo glass bottle sweats misplaced porcelain ambitions.

Twisting ceiling fanning down hair streaming from the open window

Where outside a bird lands in the blue haze of morning aglow.

Crickets carrying their musical instruments to depths of darkened crevices

In the worm caked moist skin of a breathing crust.

The grabbling sky of silver cold heat probing

The chair that smothers a waist alive in slumber and no determination

To move from in front of a liquid plasma high definition

Surround sound drumming euphoria.
