Cougar

Look! I said,
'Don't even open your mouth, '
so you could guess
that I'm a cougar,
who'll eat your tongue
if you do,
because that's what cougars do;
because cougars
like to play with toys
with a minimum of noise.

I don't know about cougars making a minimum of noise. When I was a young lad I was in the foothills above my home town at the mouth of a steep canyon with one or two other foolish lads because we were miles from home and it was about to get dark. A mountain lion screamed on the hillside above us and it sent chills right through me. I've never been so scared as I was right then. We all headed for home as fast as we could go.
