Could I Have Saved You? - Poem by (brief renderings) Joe Fazio
The alcohol has closed my eyes. My breathing
is heavy and my thoughts are of you.
Not long ago, you went to sleep and never
There are some that know, when death
is near. Did you know you was dying?
Did you cry out?
Did I fail you, as the spirit of the grape
had made me numb. Deaf.
Or did you simply...drift off, into that
I shall never rest, until I know the
Perhaps, in another time...in another place,
I shall find the answers.
