Could Not Find A Pathway Poem by Linda Barnes

Could Not Find A Pathway

Living without you seemed easy
Missing you was much harder
Each and every day since
Takes a toll on me every minute

Holding my feelings for you
Locked inside my heart
Has aged my body and soul
To a point of no return

If I could have bottled your love
To give back to me in small doses
I know it would have sustained
My life just a little longer

Who would have known
No matter how I measured
Our love for each other
Never would last forever

You would still disappear
Like vapor or hot steam
Escaping just as quickly
From that moment onward

The end result is the same
No matter how fast or slow
This love I found with you
Could not find a pathway
