Country Roads, Don't Take Me Home (Save Syria) Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Country Roads, Don't Take Me Home (Save Syria)

Rating: 5.0

Country roads, don't take me home
to the place where war still looms;
Country roads, where is the place I belong?
Country roads, where are my friends and my home?

Country roads, don't take me home
my brothers and sisters are all gone
my father and mother are either alone or lost;
country roads, will I ever find my house again?

Country roads, dont take me home
to the place I long lived before,
will I be able to watch those empty streets
our broken bridges, our silent residences?

Country roads, dont take me home
will I ever be able to wipe out those tears
of our little children who miss their school?
will I ever be able to sit and smoke a shisha in peace?

Country roads, dont take me home
where airstrikes still persists killing our innocent people
where our men, woman and children are dying
in cross fire and clashes as bombs keep falling.

O' country roads dont take me home
where air raids and warplanes travass our skies,
Country roads, dont take me home
don't take me to the place where I belong lest I die.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I appeal to World Organisations like United Nations to help and save Syrian people. The World must not forget the sufferings the Civilians are facing in Syria at this moment.
