Covid Aftermath Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

Covid Aftermath

It does not let you forget
Its visit.
A pain here, an ache there
Fever one day, headache the other
Tiredness, restlessness, debility
You name it and you have it
The aftermath of a hurricane!

Better not to have it
Better to be on one's guard
For months, years and forever
No matter how uncomfortable
A mask
No matter how restricting
Social distancing

Has it ended? God knows!
Will it return? God knows!
Has life changed? You bet!
But oh, to be alive
While so many are dead
Is a miracle unparalleled
Thanks to the stars!
