Coward Of The Desert (Genesis: 16) Poem by Yinka Meander

Coward Of The Desert (Genesis: 16)

At birth you became a traitor
Cast away into shadows
Living beneath a hidden veil
Oh coward!

Yet within the tenderness of my heart
And beneath the light of forgiveness
I chose to dine with you
Believing peace could still remain

But while I offer grace
You plotted another downfall.
Then I understood, your nature
—Oh Coward!
And that name shall follow you still.

When will you value the gift of life?
When will you release your curse?
Now your fury rises again-
OhTraitor!

Tongues wailed, Souls grow bitter,
And innocent lives are broken
Soon you shall taste
The poison prepared for others.

Fight against yourself
Destroy your hatred at its root
before your legacy falls
By your own hands.

Soon you shall be stoned
As you stoned others
And the ghosts shall offer you water
In the desert of your belief
Oh Coward!
