Crime Does Not Pay! Poem by Daya Nandan

Crime Does Not Pay!

A speeding van that was carrying a load,
Lost control while accelerating on the road,
The driver lost control and crashed into a car,
A tragic sight that was could be seen from afar,

It crashed into a police patrol car outside the police station,
And made the news that was read by the nation,
The van contained 270 kg (600 lb)of methamphetamine inside,
A load that the van driver had wished to hide,

The van driver accelerated in an attempt to escape the mess,
But he had already been checkmated in this game of chess,
His mistake was caught by the CCTV nearby,
And within an hour he was handcuffed by a police guy,

A $200 million ($140 million)drug bust of crystal meth,
More tragic for the drug dealer than the story of Macbeth,
His life in prison began from that faithful day,
He learned the hard way that crime does not pay!
