Crossing The Street Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

Crossing The Street

Rating: 5.0

You outside the stadium with your hat held in your hand
Don't apologize for your begging. I will try and understand

Your wheelchair so worn, your shirt stained and torn
I saw there in your eyes a strange look of surprise

Perhaps more than the change of those passing by
You crave humanity from those who look into your eyes

I remember that day, as I turned and walked away
So many people to meet by merely crossing the street

Hi Edmund, This is the first poem of your that I happened to read. More thank the change of those passing by You crave humanity from those who look into your eyes. But in today's world, nobody looks into the eyes of the other. Even if one does, can you see humane feeling in them? Great poetry. Overwhelming feelings. Keep writing and thank you sharing.

How often would we just walk past a man like this because all we would see is the upside down hat, Splendid poem.
