Cycles Poem by Midnight Clarity

Cycles

A drift of paper on the beach
leads the eye to water, not fit to drink
too salt, the sea, to be consumed
Light filters down between the salt
the sand stirred by the white froth
spoons of water’s edge made waves
Light glows across the restless
ever-changing bed feet burrow in,
risking the nip and pinch of tiny
claws, stab of the urchin’s needles,
Raindrops, fat and tear shaped
plummet from a cloudless sky
a dimple through the surface
driving home from its trip aloft;
sucked from the surface of the sea
by sun and wind to dance with
clouds, grow heavy then to fall
where chance, where air may breathe
them down. Now pure water fit to drink
to quench the ground, the thirst, to
drag the life from dormant seeds a
huge green burst that arrows up
to grasp at sunlight and give
oxygen to air, to water, to us all.

I like this, love the watery theme but also the way it told a story from beginning to end. HG: -) xx
