Daddy Poem by Maggie Wolf

Daddy

Rating: 4.5

When I was little, i wanted nothing more than your smile.
I loved your booming laugh, that could carry for a mile.
so when you passed out of this earth,
i wept when you heavenly ship left its berth
the hole inside was only filled of late,
and i take it that means you passed the gate
you probably cracked jokes with St Peter
you helped him out, and marked people onto the 'coming in' meter
oh how i've missed you, you cant even imagine.
when you slipped out of our fingertips, leaving behind all your kin
But sometimes when i cry at night,
i think that you are that heavenly light
maybe you are the wind whispering in my ear
or the enveloping prescence always so near.
I know that you never truly left us behind
we will join you sooner of later, us and all our kind
So smile at me from your heavenly cloud,
oh daddy, i know you'd be so proud.
