Dangerous Lies Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Dangerous Lies

How dangerous are lies to tell?
And well?
As if blessed with this skill,
And gifted with it to get.

Long after truth had been told.
And forgotten.
Lies will stay,
Fresh.
As if preserved,
In formaldehyde!

However...
Those lies to tell to sell,
Remain to be sold...
And bought to tell,
To others too!
Not to have been born.
Made victims of dishonesty.
And defenders of deception.

Yet for them,
Worthy it is to argue over.
As truth to know to be as is.
And...
Dare some will do to swear,
On a stack of Bibles...
If challenged.

How dangerous are lies?
There are many...
Who will never come to know,
Reality to live it.
Or truth to hear it spoken.
Either embellished,
To exaggerate it to delude!
