Daughter Poem by Prem Nizar Hameed

Daughter

Daughter… dear daughter…my dear daughter
A father cried, dropping his tears in the water;
Umbrella, tiffin box and fountain pen
Gushed away with her drawing crayon
High school gate and cycle wheel
Together made a trip in gale;
Easy, she is at home, someone told him to console,
Repeated himself: "at home? Where is it as a whole..?

(An Acrostic Poem: First letter of each line spells out DAUGHTER.
Written at the time of Tsunami)

-Inspired by a photograph of a father looking for his daughter in Sendai, Japan, aftermath the tragic of Tsunami
