Daydreams Of A Cat - Poem by Gert Strydom

To me a grass warbler is a small thing
that gambols around
and when the summer sun falls hot
shining high above me,
when I stretch out and bake in the sun, languidly,
when my thoughts run deep,
a dove or a mouse or a fish tastes wonderful,
as something that I cannot miss
