Dear God Poem by Onuora ilodibe

Dear God

Oh! Between you and me
This modest piece I write
My heart I intend to spill
The love you shown to me
My years as a wanton kid
Till I grew so far from thee

Into a man who prides in sin
And lured the feeble into sin
For too many I lead to stray
Into wild and deepest ways
My prayers and sob in pain
Dear God may it not in vain

For each soul I pulled away
Two I will win back thy way
Not words but action in faith
Crest thy law my heart a slate
Help me not to path thy way
My sins forgive LORD I pray

Am a wretch bestow thy grace
Seek to find in thy secret place
I yearn to hear from you all day
For where you are I want to be
Draw nearer dear God to thee
All who seek to abide lo in thee

Thy ways estranges this world
Make not of this world a friend
for I come with a contrite heart
My LORD what you will I shall
Teach my heart to understand
Thy ways make me a firebrand
