Dear Innocence Poem by ANJANDEV ROY

Dear Innocence

Oh dear innocence, my friend, come back again
And rescue me from the hungry clutches of dreary experience,
How much I enjoyed my pure innocence in those glorious childhood days,
It was an absolute gem,
I was unaware of all sorts of discomforts and inconveniences of the clumsy world during that time;
I thought only about the glory of life and used to roam to and fro freely and fearlessly,
Indeed, I was the great king of my own realm.
In those days nothing could prevent me from relishing the rustic pleasure of innocent life,
Like the free flowing river I could move in every way nonchalantly even in the most inaccessible areas;
My mind was carefree and heart was perfectly pure in every respect.
But now with the burden of experience,
I have to accept the torment of responsibility every moment,
Obstacles and hindrances frequently come on my way
To puzzle and unsettle the rhythm of life.
Dear innocence, I entreat you earnestly to cease the way of noisy experience in my mind forever
And also invite you toreenter my lifepleasingly and cover my mind and heart with your clean and thick white cloth.
