Death In Guise Of Cancer Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Death In Guise Of Cancer

Rating: 5.0

Dying Grandmother in hospital bed
Surrounded by loving family
Son and daughter holding her hand.
Flickering candle with bible on beside table.

'There is no pain, ' she whispers,
'Doctors have seen to that.
I go to join my beloved husband
Waiting for me at Heaven's gate.

He will lead me to the Lord Jesus Christ
Angels and martyrs, and sinners forgiven.
I shall be bathed in God's eternal love
Introduced to ancestors down the ages.'

She smiles and closes her eyes
Flickering flame on the candle goes out
Her hands go limp
Death has been and gone.
