Defiant Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Defiant

Defiant.
And relying upon fortune.
Maintained by the gaining,
Of solicited obtained fame.
To believe it sustained to remain...
Untouched.
As is without this fading.
Until...
Taken away much quicker than it came.
Can become a traumatic and tragic,
View of life.
Witnessed to drift away.
Especially when given to take for granted.
To then become haunted by a flaunted,
Self anointed horror...
A guilt to have with a remorse,
That repays.
One with only misdeeds...
Remembered repeatedly done to others.
With a biting from uninvited nightmares.
Accompanied by eyes to feel but not see.
Fixed and staring in the darkness.
And...
Applying in a defiant,
Indefensible payback!
