Deicide Poem by soren Barrett

Deicide

Rating: 5.0

Oh that I was a bird, to fly above the rain
far above the storm or in the eye of a hurricane
or that I were a tree, deeply rooted in the ground
drawing strength from the earth, where endless nutrients abound

Lo, but I am a man, set in between
I change what I can, asking God to intervene
I hunt the bird for nourishment and cut wood to warm me
Is not God nothing more, than the bird and the tree?
