Deliverance From Misguidance Poem by SJ. Sharkey

Deliverance From Misguidance

I forgot what it feels like to be normal; but what is normal?
Trying to stay awake and remember my name?
I never thought I could miss someone half as much as I miss you,
And I’m the one that’s gone

I cry for those that never knew you
And long for those that stand beside you
But your life is not yet depleted
And acceptance was my dream

Who will save me now?
Now my life is shattered
Am I even alive? Just breathing.
As though a lingering soul after the hit of Fate’s miniature silver sword

Forget this life! Come with me
Don’t look back and tell me I’m safe now
Don’t unlock your heart and don’t release my soul
Over-powered by fear again: Let me stay beside you

Haunt me and I can gather the taste of life
With you heartbeat pounding in my chest
Rise against the oppression through fields of service
That bound me to the forsaken existence of this Earth

The skies are weeping but sins aren’t washed away
Deliverance is hiding as the sun falls through the clouds
This is my last serenade;
Your forgiveness was my happy ending.
