Democratic This Republic Is Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Democratic This Republic Is

A document historically states.
Supreme power is held,
By the people.
And...
Their elected representatives.
From which they choose,
And nominate.
One President to preside.
Not a monarch to rule.
As if...
A North American butterfly.
Doing what it chooses.
From markings to identify,
Status to have it.
And with deceptions to delude,
Others to also believe...
They too were born blessed,
With the markings...
Of a monarch chosen.

However...
This republic,
For which it stands undivisible.
Is not a place,
That deluded monarchs...
Can simply deface.
To perceive diversity,
From which it stands...
Historically documented.
Will be replaced to belong,
To those who declare...
Their markings to have them,
Deluded or not.
Represents more to allow,
A destroying...
Of what they've got!
To whomever lives to fiction,
A frauding to corrupt...
Destroy and destruct.
Gives them permission,
To swagger and strut...
As if a monarch chosen to do it!

Democratic This Republic is.
One nation under God.
Indivisible.
Although truth and justice,
For all inhabitants...
With this presented,
To represent.
Remains a work in progress!
