Departure Poem by Oyekake Satty (O S) Joshua

Departure

In this world of corporate ventures
Where often we’re driven ambitiously,
Unbeknown, into a performance trap
Besieged by selfishness, greed and success
That there’re still a few things to delight our day
People like you to bring a ray of light to our hearts
And a smile of friendship to my day
Making the soul smile harmoniously in agreement
Whenever your presence does grace my way
‘Tis befitting as we depart from this acquaintance
Away from the joy that may never chance my path
To confess the hope and the anticipation of seeing you
The bubbling joy that accompanies your every presence
The pleasure that’s beholden in your beautiful smile
The calm and the assurance in your confident steps
The void your absence will bring where I’m bound to go.
How ironic how we often ignore a hearty greeting
The comfort of an authentic smile and a friendly touch
The beauty of two sincere hearts, the rejoicing of souls
The friendship bond, till the time of absence draws nigh
