Desire And Arousal Poem by gershon hepner

Desire And Arousal

Rating: 5.0

Contrary to general belief
desire's not what stimulates arousal,
but vice versa, for it seems the chief
enticement to an urge that may be spousal-
or extraspousal, just depending what
you think about the Ten Commandments, in
particular the seventh, thou shalt not
commit adultery, no venial sin,
like speaking badly of your friends behind
their backs, or stealing parking places claimed
by other cars-researchers claim they find
arousal, when erotically aimed,
can always stimulate desire. When
a man or woman is aroused desire
will follow just as surely as does smoke
the very slightest evidence of fire,
or laughter when you hear a dirty joke.
So when it happens that you feel frustrated,
remember that the people who arouse
desire may be those whom you have dated
and quite forgotten, even your own spouse.
