Destiny
(a poem by Shakil Ahmed)
When I weave a dream
To fill my chaotic life
With vivid colours
Borrowing hue from evening rainbow
Hostile fate retards my way
And stands like a colossal mountain
Before my winding path
When ripple of joy
Floats in my sojourn sky
That ominous fate comes
And shatters a blow
Breaking the pebbles of joy
Into tiny bits or crumbs
I don't know
How shall I tame my hostile fate
When sorrow slumps upon my face
In the twilight of festive day
Hostile fate jeers at me
With chilling disdain
When I yell with agony and pain
in the moon-lit night of autumn
When tears tickle like summers rain
In the day-light of placid noon
Destiny winks at me
Like a glittering pearl
Or a joyous teenager girl.

Very moving, Shakil. We are each the protagonist in our own stories. It is often fate who appears in the role of the antagonist. A great poem, Shakil.
