Determine Where Your Boat Goes Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Determine Where Your Boat Goes

Live your life as if a gift.
To know you've been blessed,
In the receiving of it to experience.
Claim ownership and continue to prevail.
Don't allow anyone,
To block or knock the wind...
From a journey you started.
They make attempts to end.

Be the captain of your ship to know it.
Whether you decide to float or row.
And determine where your boat goes.
No need to announce it.
As long as you know,
Where your boat to float or row...
Will dock.

If you want to be somebody,
Just be who you are to be.
And don't settle for mediocrity.
If you do you will eventually seek,
Less than mediocrity.
To care then even less,
If that boat you float, sail or row...
Starts to sink from leaks.
Leaving you not the captain.
But a captive of defeat.

Determine where your boat goes.
And prepare to have a strategy.
To maneuver around obstacles and negativity.
