Dieu A Un Enfant Affame. (Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Dieu A Un Enfant Affame. (Translation) .

Enfant affame,
Enfant affame.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
An imaginary dialogue between God and a hungry child-a monologue. God
did not make the world for this hungry child, but for the rich. The child has no shares in any company, no stock in the railroad, as rich men do. The poem criticises God and the rich, who own the world. God ignores the hungry child. The poem succeeds as a piece of satire and it expresses Langston Hughes's left-wing views quite strongly.
