'Different Way Of Life' Poem by Linda Winchell

'Different Way Of Life'

Man on a street corner, holding a sign
'Grand Opening Today, Great Store Prices Inside! '

He's been out of work, going now on two years
jobs not that plentiful, for a man of his years.

Forced to a different, standard of life
in order to feed his two small children
and his sweet loving wife.

Humiliation and despair show on his face
the worlds poor economy, now dictating his place.

A different way of life, now in order to live
he's given all to society, and now forced to live.

And then sometimes it isn't enough to just give what we can. Sometimes we have to push, and keep pushing, until we either dropp from fatigue or the wall gives in. This is such a stark reality poem of what it is coming down to in our economy dreaded country. For years I have seen homeless people standing by the on ramps to the freeway with signs that said 'I am hungry. Will work for food.' But when a person is used to working for aliving and providing for the family, it is heartbreaking when the economy has to tell that person what kind of work he or she will do just to survive and provide for the family. But the Lord always provides for us. Thank you sis for this very heart tugging, soul searing poem. A 10. Love & hugs, Barbara
