Dime Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Dime

Rating: 4.0

Dime

By dashboard, in my car
-cherish a single "Dime."

He was a Chinese boy
-below six, maybe four;
-he gave me a dime, so
-I keep it to teach me
- (as well as remind me)
-of great parents' role
-in the life of the child,
-how to act and treat
-the others, elderly.

Fathers went for shopping;
-they purchased and carried
-till they were by the house,
-where he gave it to the child:
- "Be in charge from now! "

Mom opened the door and
-hugged the kid, smiled wide
-and praised what was done.

Training has its way
-relatives' and parents'
-not just the computer…

I, still, feel the warmth
-of bread, on my arm
-which dad bought
-and I gave
-to the kindest mother.

Possibly it was the
-the best day of a long life.
-Must recall and think of
-how taught me, my parents:
- "Be good man and humble."

To me, "Dime" is a shrine
-for a saint, role-model
-of teachings by parents
-with love and forgiveness
-full of joy and patience.
