Disability - Poem by SHARON RICHARDSON

So long it seem like I had to wait
Let me say May 6,2011 was the date
That my dream came true
With a learning Disability y'all don't know what my daughter Cha-Ron went through
For a child to be in special education classes seems like to a child
its shame
Its okay when people get to know you're character, disabity and name
Reality it's just a stepping stone no need to be ashame
Once she got to high school there goes another change
Again I say its ok she got an IEP
Got to tell you that I the mom also have a Disability
Was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis
God gave us victory even behind this
Gave me the gift of poetry
My daughter get her high school diploma June 1,2011 and on
May 6,2011 she got her license in Cosmetolgy
Listen people don't pass judgement on what you look at people
and see
I am the Self Published Author of Poems to Live Cry or Testify by
My daughter have made me so happy I could cry
All I'm saying is don' put a limit on people like my daughter and me
Just because we have a Disability
Might not have all the knowledge and wisdom
I challenge you to get to know somebody with Autism
Never did I say thats what we have
Got to work with some children that did and I guarantee they will make
you smile or laugh
Just a poem to make blind hearts see
Get to know people like us that have something we didn't put on ourself its called a Disability
