Distant And Kept Meant Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Distant And Kept Meant

Distant and kept meant.
Fenced in away and isolated.
With a raising to prevent,
Their children an adventure...
Most children love and adore exploring.
Instead of learning to resent,
A truth to teach it.
Without it to circumvent.

That day will come,
When the presence of the ones.
Who intentionally stole,
Their experiences not to have...
A life of their own to live.
Knowing what good is.
After overcoming the sadness of the bad.
But this life to have,
More deceived with lies to tell.

Those children growing,
To eventually become productive adults...
Will choose no longer to trust or hear,
A word heard to give time to listen...
From those they refuse,
To accept or believe connected to truth.
Remaining distant.
With this kept meant to prove done to do!
