Can You Hear? Late fall, silent dawn, my dear,
The sound when the wind is sweeping past. Can you hear?
The leaves which lonely startled and surprised on branches
Are screaming, dancing on twigs of the outer flanches?
Do You Know? Late fall, silent dawn, my dear,
Why the raindrops strike the bare limbs, drear?
The trees are weeping 'cause the pain of time,
And exhaling frost in the air, so white like lime.
Can You Hear? Late fall, silent dawn, my dear,
The cars are speeding on the road where empty and clear,
Thru the road where dim and still, they rush ahead,
With spilling and wasting the white foam on the exhaust stack with lead.
Do You Know? Late fall, silent dawn, my dear,
When spring arrives, those barren boughs which mere,
Will bud anew with greenish shoots and they sprout,
But the frost upon our heads won't restore in grout.
