My Laugh Is My Cry Poem by Cameron Gallant

My Laugh Is My Cry

I may laugh at your jokes
But I turn away and desperately I search
For a way out of your harsh cruel grasp
Your disrespectful demeanor and temper-driven wrath

I may sometimes say ‘yeah I agree’ far too easily
But if only to stop you senselessly beating on me
And I may go and cry and cry in the wee hours of the night
Alone in my cell of a room, chained by that slight change you might

You might’ve loved me

Thanks for the comment! In fact, this poem is based off of anything true in my life, but sadly, it is true. You're right, people who are that cruel do not deserve a bit of attention. Thanks again for taking the time to comment. :)
