Don'T Bother Me Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Don'T Bother Me

Rating: 5.0

It is so hard to enjoy a little brother
He is always wanting so much attention
Why won't he be quiet…he keeps butting in
Leaving me alone is beyond his comprehension

I ask him to be still…can't he see I am reading
He pokes me…asking me to look of his mosquito bite
My patience is growing very thin…until I have none
I yell at him and tell him to get out of my sight

'You don't like me… why are you so mean to me
My feelings are hurt…' he says with sad eyes
'I don't care… go away… don't bother me anymore
You're a big nuisance …adios… goodbye…'

Go to your own room and find something to do
You have building blocks and video games to play
You will have fun doing things that interest you
Leave me alone…go on now…be on your way!

Walking slowly with his curly head hanging low
He goes to his room and slams the door... hard
Soon the sound of laughter and music fills his room
He is no longer gloomy…no longer feeling scarred

After an hour…there is a knocking on his bedroom door
His sister asks, 'What are you doing… Can I come in? '
'Go away! Stay out of my room… you are not allowed...'
The words, 'Don't bother me …' are heard from within
