Don't Get The Bottle - Get The Bible Poem by Colette Dright

Don't Get The Bottle - Get The Bible

Whenever you feel you're going through
God is always there for you
Yo problems cause yo mind to thinking
You find you're more at ease when drinking
Falling all over stumbling and drunk
And you smell strong like vomit and funk
You'll find your problems are still there
Cause while you were drinking, they didn't go nowhere

When you're overwhelmed and full of stress
And yo life just seems like a big hot mess
When the times are tough and the going gets rough
And you feel at times that Enough is Enough

Don't Get the Bottle - Get the Bible

When you're trying yourself to make a way
And your breakthrough's coming, but it's not today
When the sun seems it's no longer shining
And you feel the urge to begin unwinding

Get to know God and speak His word
It'll be the best words you've ever heard
Keep in mind and know it's true
God loves and cares and won't forsake you

Stop drinking - Start thanking

Thank God!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was inspired to write this after a dear friend of mine father passed away. She tried to drink her loss and sorrow away, thinking
the alcohol was the answer to comfort her hurt. I just want you to
know, it isn't.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
