Don'T Pretend Poem by Alyssa Lynn

Don'T Pretend

You don’t have to act like you ever knew my name, don’t look me in the eyes and say we ever felt the same. Don’t look me in the eyes and tell me I’m the one to blame, cuz you’re wrong and you’ll never be able to erase this song. Cuz we tried, but we failed, we lied, when we said we’d never let go. Cuz I was lying to myself when I said that we mattered, I guess the truth is I was trying to make myself feel better.
We’re not breathing, cuz we’re not breaking, I’ve gotten past the point of aching. We’re not trying, cuz we’re not going, we’re not moving, cuz it’s emotion you’re not showing. I refuse to be somebody that I’m not. I refuse to keep acting like it’s not nothing we’ve got. Freeze all the time, let’s lose control, wait till we can’t take it no more. Breaking out cuz the truth is I can live without, without you. Don’t pretend it’s not true.
