Don'T Try Poem by Brandon Lucero

Don'T Try

the greatest love is given
thoughtless freedom of the blood red heart

sing me to sleep
I'm through waking up
on my own

taking back the caring
forcefully and violently
father set the bar
showed me exactly
what never to be

faster and faster
I do the next right thing
God stole all the conditions
no requirements
for my compassion

see I am a schemer
I ran and I lied
now I'm a dreamer
I dance and I cry

so don't try
why control these complicated
people
these complicated
hearts
this complicated
love?

the sun will rise
no matter the doubt
keep breathing
keep writing
keep feeling
love comes back around
