Don't you know,
this silence is like fire
slowly peeling layers
off my soul,
uncovering ashes once sheltered
but now scattering
on the cold breeze of your absence.
I held you closer than ever,
only to feel you shudder, slip,
the fade away.
I guess some things should never
be grasped too tightly,
but within walls of desire
lay shadows of desperation.
Don't you know
this room feels so much lighter
when you fill the space with careful words,
uncovering reckless laughter.
There's one reason
the air thins without you now,
but I can't quite
catch it.
