Don't Make Me Have To Come Down There! Poem by Denis Martindale

Don't Make Me Have To Come Down There!

Perhaps you've heard that Gospel song, that warning from the Lord?
He always knows what we've done wrong, and nothing gets ignored.
There's not one thought, or bad report, unseen by God above,
Dismissing all the Bible's taught! Perhaps God's seen enough.
When angels kneel before God's Throne, they tell Him what goes on,
And even angels aren't alone, not even when they've gone.
For holy prayers arise on high, from saints on Earth below,
The chosen few, still asking why, as daily troubles grow.

The unborn babes don't know the way to plead their lives get spared,
Nor do they know of Judgement Day when unsaved souls get scared.
Nor is the planet Earth at peace, plucked clean like chickens are,
A mere resource that Man can seize, until Man goes too far.
When I survey the wondrous cross, I see amazing grace,
But unsaved souls must face the loss and shame for what takes place.
When God sends Jesus back again, it's then God's judgements fall,
Unless there's mercy, now, and then, through Easter's miracle.

Denis Martindale, the 7th of February 2023.

This poem refers to the Gospel song by Dolly Parton
that she wrote upon having a dream, and seeing God
on a mountain, then God saying to the whole world,
Don't make Me have to come down there!
