Doubt Poem by Judy Jones

Doubt

Ask me
And I would say
One has the power to change their own way of reasoning
Even if taught otherwise
But one can never diminish doubt
Which can pull you back
into a world of defeat
Retraction

I live in a smothered world of doubt
I no longer feel the ecstatic
or even hopeful
of the future
Emotionless
I can no longer be broken
bruised, yes
Try to slither in through the frame of possibilities
I may leave my window open tonight
But this bed
has long grown cold
