Down The Road Poem by Gary Hembree

Down The Road

I took a walk down the road.
To see if I could see you again.
Our eyes locked as I came by.
Yet you looked as if I wasnt there.
As I kept going.
I began to have micro dreams.
Of use holding hands.
Down the very road we crossed paths.
You would laugh at the silly jokes.
I would smile knowing I made you happy.
Then I came to a stop.
I turned around to say words.
But you were in the arms of another.
Sharing the road where we meant.
Like thunder my heart shuttered.
Now I walk this road.
That eats away at my soul.
Hoping for the day you'll notice me again.
