Downstream Poem by Sven Rhoads

Downstream

Living in state that has eaten me alive
Just constantly writing a note of my suicide
Screaming in mute, nobody hears
Making love with my every fear
As my tears keep flowing downstream

Death has been stained on my mind
Cant bear another moment of the grind
Lashing out at the mirror man
I've done everything that I can
As my veins keep running downstream

Choking on the words that I've held inside
Like the belt that's around my neck
Painting the internal scars that I try to hide
From the human course I disconnect

So let me bury the heart that sits as a stone
Pulling further below the rising tides
Ceil the fate from my finger tips to my bones
Until there is nothing left to cry

As the river runs over me
Taking me far out to sea
I do not want to be brought back to shore
As the waves crash into me
Unveiling my fragility
And I swear I cannot take this anymore
